Jaipur: Opening batsman Priyansh Arya (62, 35, 4x9, 6x2)  and jos english(73, 42, 4x9, 6x3) Their half-centuries lifted the game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday.  With the help of their century partnership, Punjab Kings team achieved an easier than expected seven-wicket victory over Mumbai team in the IPL match on Monday, thereby reaching the top of the league.




Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field.Accordingly, Mumbai Indians, who batted first, scored 184 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.In reply, Punjab batted and scored 187 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 18.3 overs. With this, Punjab Kings have won 9 out of the 14 matches they have played and have climbed to the top with 19 points.Mumbai, which had a strong batting line-up, was restricted to 184 runs for 7 wickets by Punjab bowlers with a disciplined attack.




Apart from the in-form Suryakumar Yadav's half-century (57, 39 balls), the rest of the team's contribution was not much. The batsmen joined hands with the bowlers' efforts. Earlier, Mumbai scored a modest total with the help of Suryakumar (57, 39 balls, 4x6, 6x2) and some small contributions from other batters.They added 45 runs for the first wicket with Ryan Rickelton (27, 20a) and Rohit Sharma (24). But Mumbai could only manage 52 runs after the powerplay.





South African pacer Marco Janssen, who played his last match of the season for Punjab, took the wicket of Rickelton.Kannadigas Vaishakha Vijayakumar (2 for 44) took the wickets of Tilak Verma (1) and the dangerous Will Jacks (17, 8a) to stop Mumbai from making a splash. Harpreet Brar (1 for 36) ensured that the absence of spinner Yuzvendra Chahal did not affect them too much.





Surya broke Sachin's record

Suryakumar, on his way to a half-century in this match, became the Mumbai Indians player to score the most runs in a single IPL season. The previous record was held by legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar (618 runs in the 2010 edition). Suryakumar has scored 628 runs till this match. Suryakumar, the captain of the India T20 team, has scored 25-plus scores in 14 consecutive innings.Batting first, Mumbai Indians set a target of 185 runs for Punjab in the crucial IPL match being played here.Surya Kumar Yadav, who batted brilliantly, helped the team to a good total by scoring 57 runs off 39 balls.





Openers Ken Rickaldon scored 27 and Rohit Sharma scored 24. Meanwhile, captain Hardik Pandya scored 26 and Naman Dhir scored an explosive 20.
