IPL 2025|LSG vs SRH : Risers win; Giants out of playoff race,

Lucknow: Left-handed batsman Abhishek (59; 20, 4x4, 6x6) scored a blistering half-century to help Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Lucknow Supergiants by six wickets in an IPL match on Monday, aided by a useful contribution from the middle-order batsmen. With this defeat, the door of Lucknow's playoff chances closed.

Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings have already secured tickets for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are competing for the remaining spot as Lucknow, who had a slim chance, were eliminated.

These teams will face each other on this 21st and that match is likely to be decisive.Losing the toss and batting first, theLucknow team scored a challenging total of 205 runs for 7 wickets at the Ekna Stadium here. Chasing the target, the Hyderabad team celebrated with 206 for 4 with 10 balls to spare. This is the fourth win in 12 matches for the current runners-up Hyderabad, who were earlier eliminated from the play-off race.

Atharva Thaide (13) replaced Travis Head and started the innings with Abhishek. Despite Thaide's early exit, Ishan Kishan (35), who joined Abhishek, prefaced the win with a quick 82 (35 balls) in the second wicket partnership.

Heinrich Klaasen (47;28a) and Kamindu Mendis (32;21a) played a responsible role in the middle order. Meanwhile, Mendis withdrew from the game with right hamstring muscle spasm. Later Aniket Verma (5 not out) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (5 not out) completed the victory.

Marsh-Aidan Abbara: Lucknow's team was as usual based on three main players before this. Openers Mitchell Marsh (65, 39 6, 4x6, 6x6) (61, 38 2, 4x4, 6x4) laid a good foundation by adding 115 runs for the first wicket. Playing at number four, Nicholas Pooran scored a useful 45 runs.Lucknow Supergiants got off to a good start thanks to Marsh-Aidan's impressive half-centuries, but Sunrisers Hyderabad's run-rate was somewhat curtailed in the latter stages. Having scored 108 runs without losing a wicket in the first 10 overs, Lucknow looked to accumulate a huge total. But the Sunrisers bowlers conceded 97 runs in the last 10 overs and took 7 wickets to put a stop to the home team.

Skipper Rishabh Pant (7), who came to Creasy before Nicholas Pooran, continued his streak. Despite making a few changes in the order this season, they have not been successful. He gave a catch to the bowler in a young attempt to block Ishan Malinga's yorker.

After Marsh's departure, the run-rate slowed. Nicholas Pooran tried his best to attack but could not lift the Sixers as usual. After Markram departed in the 16th over, four wickets fell within a gap of 40 runs. Harshal Patel bowled Markaram and took his 150th wicket in IPL. Herschel (117 matches) became the second fastest bowler to cross this milestone after Lasith Malinga (105 matches).

Nitish Reddy, who was bowling for the first time in the current IPL, conceded 20 runs in the last over. Akash Deep hit a six off the last ball to take the team's total past 200.
