IPL 2025 | GT vs LSG: Lucknow won by 33 runs against Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Opener Michel marsh(117; 642, 4x10, 6x8)'s impressive century helped Lucknow Supergiants to a comfortable 33-run win over Gujarat Titans in an IPL match on Thursday, aided by the effective bowling of New Zealand pacer Will O'Rourke (3 for 27). 

Despite this defeat, the Gujarat team remained at the top of the points table. Lucknow, who have already been out of the play-off race, returned to winning ways after four consecutive defeats. Both the teams have one match each in the league.

Lucknow scored 235 for 2 in 20 overs with the help of Marsh and Nicholas Thaw (56; 272, 4x4, 6X5) in the match at the Narendra Modi Stadium.Chasing the target, Gujarat ended the struggle by scoring 202 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Barring Shah Rukh Khan (57; 29A, 4x5, 6x3) in the middle order, the rest of the batsmen stayed at the crease for longer.

Opening batsmen Sai Sudarshan (21) and skipper Shubman Gill (35;20A), who had an unbeaten double-century partnership in the previous match against Delhi Capitals, made an early exit. Jos Buttler (33; 18) and Sherfan Rutherford (38; 22A) who came next put up some resistance.

After Butler's departure, Shahrukh joined Sherfen and wished the Gujarat team a win. The duo added 86 (40A) in the fourth wicket partnership. However, Roorkee attacked in the 17th over and took the wicket of Sherfen to break the partnership. Also, in the same over, Rahul Tewatia was shown the way to the pavilion and the match again tilted towards Lucknow. Then the Gujarat team did not recover.

Marsh's bang: 

Lucknow, who had earlier lost the toss and opted to bat, got the hosts off to a flying start with openers Marsh and Aidan Markram (36; 24A). The duo put on 91 runs in the first wicket partnership before 10 overs were over. Markaram was dismissed by Shahrukh Khan off the bowling of spinner Saikishore.
