'Super' win for Capitals: Royals stumble on victory threshold


New Delhi : With the help of veteran pacer Mitchell Starc's brilliant bowling, Delhi Capitals got back to winning ways by defeating Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling match of IPL that went all the way to Super Over.Chasing a target of 189 to win the match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, the Royals were at one stage on their way to 180 for three in 19 overs. 

However, in the last over, Starc gave only eight runs to the pair of Hemmeyer-Dhruv Jurel through Kararuwak yorkers. Jurrell was run out for the second run needed for victory in the last ball to tie the game.


Starc, who attacked again in the super over, tied the Royals team to just 11 runs through yorkers again.tied up Also there were two runouts. In response to this, Delhi team's K.L. Rahul and Trust Stuns scored 13 runs in 44 balls of Sandeep Sharma's Super Over. Swales hit the fourth ball for a six over midwicket to delight the home crowd.
With this win, the Delhi team again climbed to the top of the points table. This is the fifth defeat in seven matches for the Rajasthan team.


Commenting after the match, Royals captain Sanju Satson praised Mitchell Starc's bowling and said, 'He took the match out of our hands'.Starc bowled Nitish Rana with a yorker to the LB trap in the 18th over.


Earlier, the Delhi Capitals team lost the toss and went into bat with Abhishek Porel (49; 37A, 4x5, 6x1) and K.L. Rahul (38;322, 4x2, 6x2) scored 188 runs for 5 wickets with the same partnership.
Rahul and Abhishek added 63 runs in the 3rd wicket partnership. Later, Treston Stubb (34 not out; 182, 4x2, 6x2) and (34; 142, 4x4, 6x2) led to the growth of the team's total. 

Jofra Archer took two wickets.Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (51;37, 4x3, 6x4) and skipper Sanju Satson (31) gave the team a good start for the target-chasing Royals. Sanju was injured and retired when the team total was 61. Ryan Parag (8) who came next was disappointment. (51;282, 4x6, 6x2) anchored the team in the middle order. Delhi bowlers took control after his departure. Dhruv Jurel (26 not out; 17A) and Shimran Padiyar (15 not out; 9A) added 27 (14A) for the unbroken third wicket.
