 AHMEDABAD: On April 19, 2025, the Gujarat Titans (GT) faced off against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 35 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.  In a high-scoring encounter, GT emerged victorious by 7 wickets, successfully chasing down DC's formidable total of 203/8 with four balls to spare.  

Delhi Capitals, batting first, posted a competitive total of 203/8 in their allotted 20 overs.  The innings was anchored by captain Axar Patel, who scored a steady 39 off 32 balls, and Ashutosh Sharma, who provided a late surge with a quickfire 37 off 19 deliveries.  Karun Nair contributed a brisk 31, while Tristan Stubbs added 31 runs to the tally.  Despite a strong start, DC's momentum slowed in the final overs, managing only 15 runs in the last two, which potentially cost them a higher total.  

Gujarat Titans' chase was spearheaded by Jos Buttler, whose unbeaten 97 off 54 balls earned him the Player of the Match award.  His innings included 11 fours and 4 sixes, showcasing his dominance at the crease.  Supporting him was Sherfane Rutherford, who scored a valuable 43 off 34 balls.  Sai Sudharsan also made a notable contribution with 36 runs.  GT reached the target in 19.2 overs, finishing at 204/3.  

This victory propelled Gujarat Titans to the top of the IPL 2025 points table, marking a significant step towards securing a playoff spot.  The win not only boosted their standings but also impacted the playoff prospects of other teams, including Delhi Capitals, who faced setbacks in their campaign.  

Overall, the match was a testament to GT's batting prowess and strategic execution, with Jos Buttler's exceptional performance highlighting their successful chase.  Delhi Capitals, despite setting a challenging target, were unable to contain GT's batting lineup, leading to their defeat in this crucial encounter. 

Jos Buttler's excellent batting helped host Gujarat Titans win the match against Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets. With this, it topped the points list.

Despite losing the toss, the Delhi team got the chance to bat first and collected 203 runs for 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Skipper Shubman Gill (7 runs), who started the innings with Sai Sudarshan, was run out when the team's total was 14 runs.

At this stage, Sai and Butler gave the recovery. The duo powered the chase by scoring 6 runs in the 2nd wicket partnership.Sherfan Rutherford, who came after the dismissal of Sai, who had scored 36 runs in 21 balls, contributed to the victory by scoring a century.Rutherford, who scored 43 runs off 34 balls, gave good support to Buttler. He was dismissed when the team needed 11 runs to win.Buttler, who scored 97 runs off 54 balls, remained unbeaten but missed out on a record 8th century in the IPL.

Rahul Tewatia (11 runs) hit a six and a boundary in the first two balls of the last over. Due to this, Buttler missed the chance of a century, but Gujarat won.Delhi's Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.None of the batters who had batted earlier for the Delhi team had made a big innings. However, the team's total crossed the two hundred mark due to the 'short' contribution given by the top and middle order batsmen.

Abhishek Porel started the innings with Karun Nair and scored 18 runs in 9 balls.Later came K.L. Rahul scored 28 runs in 14 balls. Nair (31 runs off 18 balls), captain Akshar Patel (39 runs off 32 balls), Titson Stubb (31 runs off 21 balls) and Ashutosh Sharma (37 runs off 19 balls) played useful games.The famous Kannadiga Krishna bowled brilliantly for Gujarat. He took 4 important wickets for 41 runs in four overs. Pacers Mohammad Siraj, Arshad Khan, Ishant Sharma and spinner Sai Kishore shared one wicket each.

Both teams have played 7 matches each, winning five and losing two. Although both the teams have 10 points each, the Gujarat team has topped the points table due to their better run rate.
